Mayank Bawa

Mayank Bawa is CEO and co-founder of Aster Data, where he leads the company's strategic planning, management and technology development. He has led the company as it matured from an idea based on the co-founders research at Stanford University to an enterprise software company powering the most advanced customer data warehouses.
Mayank has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from IIT-Bombay, and a Master's and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Stanford University. Mayank was the recipient of the Stanford Graduate Fellowship (Sequoia Capital Fellow) at Stanford University during his doctorate studies. Mayank has published a dozen academic papers in top database conferences and has been affiliated with IBM Research and Microsoft Research. |
Tasso Argyros

Tasso (Tassos) Argyros is the CTO and co-founder of Aster Data. Tasso has a background in data management, data mining & large-scale distributed systems and before founding Aster he was in the PhD program at Stanford University. Tasso was recently recognized as one of Bloomberg BusinessWeek's Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs for 2009. He holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Diploma in Computer Engineering from Technical University of Athens. |
John Calonico
Chief Financial Officer

John Calonico has nearly 30 years of experience in international finance, including accounting, merger and acquisition, treasury, human resources, facilities, and information systems. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Interwoven, a leader in content management solutions. At Interwoven, he helped drive profitable growth as sales reached more than $250 million prior to its acquisition by Autonomy. Previously, Calonico served as the Chief Financial Officer of Blue Martini Software, Inc., where he managed and successfully completed the company’s initial public offering. He has held vice president of finance positions for BEA Systems and Autodesk, and began his career with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young. |

Nitin Donde
Executive Vice President of Engineering

Nitin is a seasoned executive with a proven track record of delivering commercially successful enterprise products on diverse platforms. He has a broad range of experience leading engineering teams at both early stage startups and mature companies with multi-billion dollar revenues. Most recently he was the vice president of engineering at EMC. Prior to his time with EMC, Donde was vice president of engineering and customer service for Intransa, a privately held startup that builds network-centric scalable IP SAN. He has also held executive and senior management positions at 3PAR and Tandem Computers (now a part of HP). Donde earned an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Management, University of California, Berkeley. He has a Master of Science degree in computer science from University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India. |

Sharmila Shahani-Mulligan

| Sharmila most recently was CMO of the Business Technology Optimization business within HP Software, where she was responsible for the go-to-market strategy for a multi-billion dollar software portfolio. Before joining HP, Sharmila served as EVP of Marketing at Opsware, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPSW), a leader in the Data Center Automation market. Sharmila led marketing from the start of Opsware in 2002 to its eventual acquisition by HP for $1.65B in 2007. Before Opsware, Sharmila served as VP of Marketing and Business Development for Totality, a managed services provider focused on e-business operations. Previously, she was VP of Marketing for AOL's E-commerce Services group. Upon AOL's acquisition of Netscape, Sharmila was a key member of the integration committee focused on the launch of Sun's iPlanet business. Prior to this, Sharmila was VP of Marketing at Netscape Communications, responsible for Netscape's infrastructure product line. She was also an early member of Kiva Software, which was acquired by Netscape, where she was instrumental in driving the creation of the Application Server market. Sharmila has also held managerial positions at General Magic and Microsoft. She received her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and her BA and BS from Northwestern University. |

David Kloc
Vice President of Worldwide Channels and Partners

David brings to Aster Data over 20 years of sales and channels management and consulting experience in the business intelligence, data warehouse, and advanced analytics markets. He comes to Aster Data from Netezza Corporation (NYSE: NZ), where he most recently was the Vice President of Strategic Development. David joined Netezza as the first business person and drove early customer adoption both in the US and Europe. He launched Netezza’s European business and as Vice President of EMEA Operations grew the business from $0 to $20M in annual revenue and 35 customers in 4 years, making significant contributions to support Netezza’s successful IPO in 2007. Prior to Netezza, David held various technical selling, direct sales, and channels management roles at Arbor Software/Hyperion Solutions (now Oracle), where he was instrumental in creating the OLAP database category by driving early customer growth and revenues there from $0 to more than $250M for a successful IPO. Prior to that, he was a consulting leader with Arthur Andersen delivering executive support systems for Global 1000 clients. David earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UNC Charlotte and an MBA from Babson College. |
Mike Brown
Vice President of Sales, Eastern Region

Mike has over 20 years of sales management experience selling enterprise software, within both public and private sectors. He comes to Aster Data from Parametric Technology (NASDAQ: PMTC), where he was most recently Divisional Vice-President and General Manager of PTC`s Asia-Pacific business, growing the AP business to over $240 million annually. At Parametric Technology Mike also served as Senior Vice President in charge of federal, aerospace, defense, and automotive verticals in North America. Prior to Parametric, he held sales leadership positions at Electronic Data Systems. Mike holds a B.S. and an M.S. in engineering from Virginia Tech. |
Jim Brzezinski
Vice President of Sales, Western Region

Jim has over 20 years of sales management experience, with a strong focus on selling enterprise software to Global 2000 companies. He comes to Aster Data from Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ), where he was the Vice President of the Central Region for the Software and Solutions business unit. Prior to HP, Jim was the Vice President of Central U.S. and Canada at Opsware (NASDAQ: OPSW), where he led a high-growth sales team prior to Opsware being acquired by HP in 2007 for $1.65B. Before joining Opsware, Jim was the Vice President of Sales at Panaway Technologies, a converged networking startup. Jim holds a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota, where he was also a three-year letterman on the swim team. |
Colin Coffey
Vice President of Worldwide Services and Support

Colin leads Aster Data’s worldwide Services and Support Organization which includes Sales Engineering, Consulting, Support, and Training. Prior to joining Aster Data, Colin served as a Director at HP Software where he was responsible for leading two major businesses at the Americas geography level; HP Software Information Management and HP Software training. Before HP, Colin was Vice President of Services and Support at Opsware and managed the Services organization from 2004 to the point of Opsware’s acquisition by HP in 2007. Prior to Opsware, Colin held various management positions at EDS including being the Client Delivery Executive for the largest EDS accounts. Colin holds a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from Rider University. |
