Aster Data Systems and BVI Networks Partner to Deliver Retailers Superior Decision Support

BVI and Aster Data Join Forces to Serve Retail Markets in US and Europe

San Carlos, Calif. – June 16, 2009 – Aster Data Systems, a proven leader in high-performance database systems for data warehousing and analytics, today announced a partnership with BVI Networks, the industry’s first provider of comprehensive in-store business intelligence (BI) and decision support systems.

BVI provides actionable in-store data that allows retailers and brand manufacturers to make much better decisions when it comes to staffing, merchandise placement, display programs, and marketing spending. BVI takes in-store analysis well beyond existing point of sale (POS) and video analytics systems, enabling retailers and brand manufacturers to quickly identify problems and areas for improvement. The RetailNEXT data analysis platform is enhanced by a unique set of video tools that enable detailed customer behavior analysis at a fraction of the cost of in-store observation studies.

To serve large multi-store chains, the Aster nCluster database software will be bundled with RetailNEXT to provide aggregation and reporting of individual store data at regional and corporate levels. The combination of BVI and the Aster nCluster database also provides the ability to perform advanced traffic analysis across an entire chain of stores. As part of the relationship, BVI and Aster will jointly market this powerful set of retail decision support products.

BVI Networks’ RetailNEXT product suite is a powerful in-store BI system that enables retailers and manufacturers to use real time data from video, point of sale and other business systems, combined with best-in-class video analytic algorithms and an easy-to-use interface to optimize store operations, measure display and promotion effectiveness, and improve security.

“RetailNEXT is optimized to collect, analyze, and present valuable in-store data in the most cost-effective, secure, and user-friendly way. We believe our partnership with Aster Data will excite customers, as Aster nCluster provides the availability and analytical horsepower needed to conduct complex analysis and generate shopping behavior insights and business recommendations through the BVI Networks system,” said Alexei Agratchev, CEO of BVI Networks.

"Retailers need in-store data analytics so they can quickly and accurately understand the vast chain of events a customer engages in as they shop a store and decide to purchase a product. What’s exciting is to see how best practices from online marketing are being enabled and applied by BVI Networks to traditional ‘brick and mortar’ retailers. Aster nCluster and RetailNEXT let retailers correlate and mine data from POS, video, and traffic systems to optimize merchandise placement, staffing, and inventory like never before,” said Raj Pai, VP of Strategic Alliances, Aster Data. “We’re excited to be part of this innovation, bringing the ability to conduct rich analysis on enormous data sets to help retailers optimize store performance and retain customers. We are delighted to add BVI Networks to our growing ecosystem of channel and ecosystem partners that are driving the growth of analytics-rich applications."
