Aster Customer ShareThis to Speak at TDWI BI Executive Summit
Best Practices Overview of Business Intelligence in the Cloud
TDWI World Conference, San Diego, Calif. – August 4, 2009 – Aster Data Systems, a proven leader dedicated to providing the best data analytics and management platform for ‘Big Data’ applications, announced that Aster Data customer ShareThis will speak during the TDWI BI Executive Summit today at 10:15 am. Aster Data will also be exhibiting today and tomorrow at booth #208 at the TDWI World Conference, which runs in parallel to the TDWI BI Executive Summit.
Lenin Gali, Director of Business Intelligence (BI) for ShareThis, will speak about best practices and pitfalls in approaches BI teams are using to exploit cloud-based computing. ShareThis is in production with a more-than 15 TB terabyte data warehouse deployment of Aster nCluster™ Cloud Edition, an on-demand offering of the Aster nCluster high-performance analytic database that provides a terabyte-scale cloud-based option for data warehousing and analytics. Aster nCluster Cloud Edition is available through both Amazon Web Services and AppNexus.
The first database vendor to bring In-Database MapReduce to the cloud, Aster Data is enabling companies to gain deeper insights from their data with advanced in-database analytics and flexible deployment options for large-scale data warehousing. With In-Database MapReduce, customers access parallel-processing in-database analytics through standard SQL. Through unique SQL extensions such as nPath, Aster nCluster Cloud Edition customers have access to sequential pattern analysis, which yields deeper behavioral and event analysis for improved ad targeting, fraud detection, and more.
MapReduce is a programming model that was popularized by Google in 2004 to process large unstructured data sets distributed across thousands of nodes. In-Database MapReduce enables enterprises to harness the power of MapReduce while managing their data in Aster nCluster, a massively-parallel (MPP) relational database for data warehousing and analytics. Aster nCluster was the first database system to offers enterprise-class MapReduce capabilities such as integration with BI and ETL tools, SQL support, backup and recovery, transactional data consistency, support for interactive as we all batch analysis, etc.
