Aster Data Customer MySpace Speaks About Big Data at ComputerWorld Business Intelligence Perspectives Conference
What: With such a massive audience, MySpace’s technology team was presented with the business challenge of being able to optimize, analyze and leverage billions of daily site events. The company turned to Aster Data (www.asterdata.com) and the company’s nCluster database solution to address the need for scalability, speed, and analytic power. Together the companies have developed one of the most powerful data centers able to collect 100 percent of MySpace Web traffic data for analysis to improve the customer experience which equals approximately 2-3TB of data per day.
Mike Jones, Chief Operating Officer, at MySpace and Hala Al-Adwan, VP of Data, will provide a behind-the-scenes look at MySpace's technology infrastructure and provide expertise on what it takes to service millions of worldwide users.
The session will discuss how MySpace built one of the largest data warehouses in the world, and the effect that it has had on the business. Also, hear about MySpace's secret weapon for handling server clustering; the homegrown distributed computation engine for recommendations.
“The vast amount of fresh data that MySpace handles daily on its site and their use of Aster’s solution for data management and data analysis is a perfect example of the ‘big data’ business challenge that many major organizations are faced with today,” said Mayank Bawa, CEO and co-founder, Aster Data. “Congratulations to Mike on the important work he and the company are doing and MySpace’s great success. I know his presentation will be very informative, and should not be missed.”
