Aster Database:
Simple System Management
Data management has become complex as companies rely on data-driven applications and ultra-fast analytics across all sectors of the organization. Analytic platforms are expected to serve a broad range of analytic applications and users in their daily business operations. These big data deployments need to be well-managed to optimize performance and maximize hardware investment – in particular to avoid replicating data and systems just to manage different workloads.
Resource Management
Aster Data provides advanced resource management to meet the needs of the diverse analytics running in the analytic platform. Aster Database’s Dynamic Workload Management ensures highly predictable performance and guaranteed service levels for the complex mixed workloads for which analytic platforms are used, whether they run against row-stored data or column-stored data. Dynamic Workload Management is one of a number of unified database services that Aster Database provides. Intuitive, fine-grained policy controls allow administrators to define and manage diverse workloads to meet business priorities. The ability to dynamically reallocate CPU and storage resources even for in-progress transactions ensures that time-critical queries can be processed immediately.
- Dynamic Workload Management – Aster Database’s unique dynamic workload manager effortlessly balances processing and compute resources among in-progress transactions, allowing administrators to seamlessly adapt to changing priorities in real time. The workload management controls include granular rule-based prioritization (pre-admission control) and dynamic resource allocation and re-allocation.

Aster Database's Dynamic Workload Management ensures
high user concurrency and predictable service levels
- Interactive Queries – Sub-second response for hundreds of concurrent queries (e.g., DDL, DML statements) enables on-the-fly analytical processing for large numbers of simultaneous users.
- Trickle-Feed Loads – Up-to-the-second loading provides access to the freshest data for time-sensitive analytics. Both trickle-feed and bulk loads can execute concurrently with queries.
Aster Management Console
Aster Management Console provides centralized visibility into and management of Aster Database, making it easy to monitor and manage both the data and analytic applications running there. Aster Management Console provides administrators with an authoritative view of the system and mechanisms for invoking actions and also provides developers and other users with insight into their activity, such as details on currently executing statements and statement histories.

Aster Management Console provides an intuitive interface to
monitor and manage big data and advanced analytic applications.
