San Carlos, Calif. – February 3, 2009 – Aster Data Systems, a proven leader dedicated to providing the best analytic databases for frontline data warehousing, is pleased to announce a new addition to its management team. Raj Pai, Vice President of Strategic Alliances, has an 18-year track record of successfully defining and delivering market-leading product and partner solutions in leading public companies as well as startups.

Pai will be responsible for new business development activities that fuel the growth of Aster Data Systems, including all strategic OEM, reseller and technology partnerships and alliances. He will be focused on accelerating the company’s aggressive growth rate, which has seen sales double each of the last two years.

Most recently, Pai led the Product Management team at Informatica (NASD: INFA) where he managed a global team driving strategy and execution for all data warehousing and analytics solutions, including highly successful partnerships with Siebel, Hyperion and SAP. Previously, Pai was VP of Marketing at Enosys software, a pioneer in the XML-based enterprise information integration (EII) market. He led business development and marketing initiatives which resulted in the eventual sale of the company to BEA.

Earlier in his career, Pai developed and launched Tibco’s (NASD: TIBX) hosted and server-based portal products and grew revenues from concept to $40 mil in the first year, working closely with strategic partners including SAP, Yahoo and Nokia. Raj began his career as a design engineer at Intel building Intel’s Pentium product line.

Raj has an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, a M.S. from University of Hawaii and a B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
