Aster Data Systems Appoints Mark Cranney as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations

Former Opsware/HP Sales Executive to Further Accelerate Company Growth through Worldwide Sales Operations

San Carlos, Calif. – July 29, 2009 – Aster Data Systems, a proven leader dedicated to providing the best data analytics and management platform for ‘Big Data’ applications, today announced that Mark Cranney has joined the company as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations.

Cranney has over 20 years of sales experience, with a strong focus on selling and deploying enterprise software into the Global 2000. He comes to Aster Data from Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), where he was the Vice President of the Americas for the Software and Solutions business unit. Prior to HP, he was the executive vice president of worldwide field operations at Opsware, where Cranney built and led an international sales, services, and support organization that grew sales from $18 million to $102 million prior to Opsware being acquired by HP in 2007 for $1.65B. Before joining Opsware, Cranney was the senior vice president of the Americas at Parametric Technology Corporation.
