Aster Data Bundles Informatica PowerCenter with Aster MapReduce Data Warehouse Appliance

Industry’s Most Cost-Effective Massively Parallel (MPP) Data Warehouse Appliance Now Available with Market-Leading Data Integration Software

San Carlos, Calif. – October 27, 2009 - Aster Data, a proven leader dedicated to providing the best data analytics and management platform for ‘Big Data’ applications, recently introduced the first-ever massively parallel (MPP) data warehousing appliance, providing the industry’s most ‘compute rich’ appliance on a lower-cost architecture that is inexpensive to administer and operate. Today, in response to customer demand, the company is adding Informatica PowerCenter as an option for both the Aster MapReduce Data Warehouse Appliance Express and Enterprise Editions, to provide out-of-the-box data integration.

Aster Data also announced that it is strengthening its business and technology partnership with Informatica. “Based on the initial success of our partnership over the last year, we are delighted to deepen the relationship to include distribution of Informatica’s market-leading data integration product, PowerCenter, part of the Informatica Platform,” said Raj Pai, Vice President, Strategic Alliances for Aster. “Organizations that want a powerful, easily scalable, MPP data warehouse appliance have been asking for the option to include the industry’s leading data integration products as part of their turn-key package, and we are pleased to be able to deliver it to them,” Pai added.

The Aster MapReduce Data Warehouse Appliance pre-packages the high-performance, massively parallel (MPP) Aster nCluster analytic database software on Dell hardware, along with an option to include MicroStrategy’s powerful business intelligence (BI) software. With the addition of the Informatica option, organizations or departments who need the power and scalability of an MPP system now have a complete end-to-end data management and analytics solution to start small and grow incrementally without huge up-front costs. This unlocks powerful BI, analytics and rich data integration on an MPP database platform that is easy-to-use, set-up, and administer – lowering both capital and operating expenses.

“Informatica technology together with Aster gives customers a comprehensive appliance stack, with the ability to tackle complex data integration tasks in one solution. With the combined appliance solution, customers can quickly realize the benefits of rapid time to value and operational efficiencies that includes MapReduce to unlock even deeper insights from their data,” said Harry Gould, senior vice president, Worldwide Alliances, Informatica.

“The Aster MapReduce Data Warehouse Appliance just got even more appealing to those enterprises that need rich analysis of data, standard SQL support, and fast answers to sophisticated queries,” said Mayank Bawa, CEO of Aster Data. “Adding Informatica to MicroStrategy, Dell, and Aqua Data Studio further enables easy ecosystem integration with our appliance, helping to bring innovations like MapReduce to the data warehouse market more quickly and easily.”
